Today we begun our first homeschool lessons with our new program, COVA! It was a very successful day! We think this is going to be a great curriculum for this year! We LOVE how all of the organization and lesson planning is already done for us (which is an extra blessing for us at this busy time in our lives- with baby #4 coming in a few weeks and Daddy going away for nearly a month). We are thankful that God has provided us with this program for school this year!
Here are some pics from our first day with Caleb. He really did seem to enjoy it!

Here is Caleb working on a Science lesson- during this first unit, he will be learning about OUR 5 SENSES.
Caleb is making a book to go along with what he is learning- making a book is not only a creative & fun way to organize, but it will also serves as a display of what he is learning along the way!

Caroline is very very interested in watching Caleb work on his lessons. Today she hardly left his side!

Ben and I love that we are able to spend time with Caleb and be the ones to teach him! How great is it to see a boy and his Dad with arms around each other during a Science lesson??! We count this opportunity as a blessing :) We know there will be days when things aren't perfectly smooth and motivation levels are low, but there will also be many days of fun learning together as a family that not all families are able to experience. We are truly thankful that we are able to homeschool at this time!
Here is another fun Science activity Caleb did today-this one involved using his sense of TOUCH. We placed several familiar household items and some of his toys, underneath this blanket and he had to FEEL their shapes through the blanket to figure out what they were. If he could not guess the object by only using his sense of TOUCH, he could then ask to use other senses--like his sense of SMELL. We did stump him pretty well with a clothes hanger, but the rest he aced!
Caleb and Ben working through a Math lesson. In Unit 1 for Math, Caleb will be covering "Position & Classification" which include lessons like: Before, Between, & After, Top, Bottom & Middle, Left, Right, & Between, Inside, Outside, & On, Alike or Different, etc. So far these are very easy for him which is a great way to start out building his confidence!
